Was able to stop down by the river to get a few shots after work. It is a park in East Peoria off of RT 116. Clouds were just perfect, I have another shot coming soon of this same shoot.

Snow Drift 2011

Just wanted to share an image from last year that I never shared. This was in February when we had the big snow storm in the Peoria IL area. Originally I thought this was not a very good shot, but I guess it shows the snow drift that formed infront of my front door. A couple tweaks in Lightroom and this turned out to be a decent shot.

This also makes me think why it is currently 50 some degrees in January. I am thinking that the seasons are starting to shift for some reason. So come around March we are going to see snow and colder temps.

Me myself and I am not that big of a believer in global warming. I know that there is some evidence there that evidently proves this but it just doesn’t make sense to me. Seeing record highs on local TV stating that it was a high 60 degrees back in 1953 in December seems to disprove this pretty straight forward for me… But who am I?

Endless Elevator

Upon going through some of my older photos, I came across this one. This was before my iPhone4 days so it was shot on my Original Droid. This was shot in the elevator of the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel. Pretty sweet hotel, with a nice little bar connected.

The quality of the image is basically irrelevant here, it is the effect that happens when mirrors are set facing each other. This effect has always baffled my mind that the light just keeps bouncing back and forth into infinity until we cannot make out the reflection. And… just the mere physics that this happens freaking instantaneous. It is my nature to always go through a process in my mind and in this case I imagine a floating image bouncing back in forth between the two mirrors into infinity, but of course this is the speed of light we are talking about and just the fact that it happens instantly is what truly fascinates me.

Anyone else like to share an image of similar composition?

Abandoned Barn After Storm

There was another mean storm rolling into my neighborhood. I tried to get some pictures outside my house but the angles were not right. So I decided to hop in the car with my daughter and get across the highway where it was more open. Right as we got across the highway it started pooring and the tornado sirens came on so we headed back home. After that subsided I headed back out by myself. I have always wanted to shoot this barn and this was the perfect opportunity with the clouds and it being the magic hour as the sun went down. The sun flare could have come through the silo a little stronger but this will do.
